The new Asus Eee PC 1008HA offers a 92%-scaled keyboard, multi-touch touchpad, instant key (for quick access to Wi-Fi and the touchpad lock), Digital Array Microphone, 1.3 megapixel camera and comprehensive wireless connectivity options (802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3.75G and WiMAX).
Asus also integrated SRS Premium Sound technology into the Eee PC 10008HA. Asus also improved the UI with the Eee Docking desktop bar that provides one-click access to a full suite of exclusive software including:
Eee Sharing: Makes it easy to synchronize Eee PCs with other computers and share messages and documents with other Eee PC users—even without Internet access.
Eee Arena: Offers easy access to thousands of songs, videos, radio stations, games, magazines and more.
The mini-laptop, formerly known as the Eee PC Shell almost looks more like an MSI netbook than an Asus product. Like MSI’s Wind series, the lid on the Eee PC 1000HA slips down behind the case of the computer when you open it up, giving the computer a slightly smaller profile.
ASUS is also using the portable to introduce Eee Sharing, a new feature that syncs the computer with most PCs and lets fellow Eee PCs share documents and messages, as well as Eee Arena, a portal for media and games. The company is expected to launch the 1008HA in the spring and to ship it for 600 euros ($754) in Europe, though US pricing is likely to be less.
