Handy, and good protection

I bought this Flip Video cover as it came free with the camera on Amazon. I suspected it might not be any better than the free case that came with the camera but, happily, I was wrong. It's easy enough to slip the camera inside this case and it comes with a caribiner clip so you can wear it around. But the best part of this case is the durability of its fabric - it's thick and protects the Flip MinoHD against scratches. Colour me impressed.
It's ok.

Just ok on this pouch. This pouch would be better if it was easier to get camcorder in and out of.
Flip Video Pouch

This small carry pouch for the Flip Video Ultra camcorder is better than the one that comes with the Flip but not much better. It is a soft rubberized, nylon, wetsuit type material that appears to be somewhat weather proof and offers a small level of protection while transporting your Flip. It has a spring loaded ring for attaching it to something else and a small cloth loop on the back that carries the Flip logo but is otherwise useless. The main drawback is the way it opens and closes with a flap in the middle of the front. Putting the unit in the pouch is clumsy and awkward.
Cushy but Hard to Handle

I've used my new Flip HD Video cam quite a bit since I got it in December during parties and on recent vacation. I kept the Flip in the soft pouch that came with the camera because of the difficulty getting the Flip in and out of the padded Soft Pouch. I will say the the Flip is better protected in the Soft Pouch but if you want quick access to the Flip, use the pouch that comes with the camera.
At least they fit my BlackBerry Bold nicely...

The only reason I have these is that they came free with my Flip UltraHD.
They're too tight, which makes them impractical to use as an at-the-ready case. A box shape would have worked better than this flat envelope-style case.
I'd only recommend using these to protect your Flip inside a larger camera bag, travel-on bag, backpack, etc. Or, for protecting any other small electronic device such as a cellphone, smartphone, personal media player, etc.
If you need a bag for your Flip that you can attach to a belt or a backpack, I'd recommend something along the line of a Lowepro Ridge 30 Camera Case (Black). |
